The use of green energy in the production flow of lifting equipment

30 Aug. 2022

Elmas, a domestic manufacturer of lifting equipment (elevators, industrial cranes, platforms for materials, etc.), invested 4 years ago in its own photovoltaic system. In order to provide the electricity necessary for the production process, the photovoltaic panels were installed on the roof of the hall over an area of 5,000 square meters, with an installed power of 312 Kwp.

The electricity produced by the photovoltaic system is used in the production flow during the morning shift, and the electricity produced during the afternoon shift is stored in batteries, to be used for the outdoor LED lighting of the production facility at night.

During various winter-summer time intervals, the energy generated by the photovoltaic system during the afternoon shift can exceed the consumption requirement. In this respect, investments have been made to retrofit the production capacities and a liquid nitrogen production and storage system was recently put into service, intended to ensure the liquid nitrogen requirements for the CNC laser cutting equipment in the production flow. Thus, part of the green energy generated by the photovoltaic system is now also used for the operation of the generator of the liquid nitrogen production and storage system.

The company is constantly concerned with the protection of the environment and the quality of life, and has implemented the environmental management system in accordance with the European standard SR EN ISO 14001:2015.

Seated in Brașov - Romania, with a network of 12 own subsidiaries in the country and abroad (Republic of Moldova, Hungary, Bulgaria, Israel), 400 employees, production/storage/service facilities and a turnover of over EUR 32 million in 2021, ELMAS is continuously developing, being aligned with modern technologies.
